Leeds Jewish Housing Association hosted the 'green' event where topics under scrutiny centred on water, transport, waste and energy.

Leeds Rhinos personnel including star players Brent Webb and Kaili Leulai worked alongside staff from seven Housing Associations in the city representing 10,000 tenants to promote matters affecting tenants such as affordable warmth and fuel poverty.

Webb and Leulai in addition to mascot Ronnie the Rhino were also on hand to sign autographs and pose for photographs with the Super League trophy they hope to defend in forthcoming play-offs.

Housing Association tenants play ‘Splat the Carbon Footprint’

Club officials participated in a question and answer session about healthy lifestyles while coaches ran a fitness challenge coaching sessions.

Stallholders provided an insight and information about saving money on fuel bills and reducing carbon footprints for 400 tenants that attended.

Face painting, martial arts and flower planting were also among activities alongside representation from local police and the fire brigade with safety workshops.

A raffle included a new bike donated by the event's main sponsors, H T Forrest.

Hundreds of energy efficient light bulbs and power down plugs were also given away on the day.

The day was an overwhelming success with excellent feedback from tenants and stallholders.

Co-event organiser Craig Simons commented: "We are grateful to all the organisations that supported the event by providing workshops, stalls and donations.

"We hope everyone who attended learned something new and felt able to incorporate some of the free and low cost measures into their homes to reduce utility bills and carbon footprints.

"We will continue this work with our tenants."
