AN emotional farewell was given to five Langdon College students who will be graduating this year.
At the college's annual presentation day, held at King David High School on Sunday, the achievements of all the students were recognised with certificates and football medals being presented.
Leavers Jodie Lerner, Paul Sonenfeld, Neil Reisman, Natasha Sugarman and Shaina-Elke Meyer all received gifts from principal Chris Mayho.
And as an extra surprise, four of them received the keys to their new homes in the Langdon Community and a mezzuzah from community director Robert Mutch.
The Mayor of Salford Margaret Ann Morris presented the Student-of-the-Year award to Shaine-Elke Meyer while Jodie Lerner and parent Lisa Sugarman gave moving accounts of the difference Langdon has made to their lives.
Students showed off their drama skills with a series of musical showcases and there was a display of their work experience and Team Enterprise business activities from the year.
Governors' chairman Simon Olswang said: "We hope our new logo and an intensive promotional campaign will raise our profile and ensure that anyone who can benefit will know about us."
He also announced that he was standing down as chairman after more than 15 years and handing over to vice chairman Joy Wolfe.
Mr Olswang, one of the founders of Langdon, has been chairman since it first opened in 1993 and tributes were paid to him by two of his fellow founders, Jonny Manson and Sylvia Conway, who made a presentation to him on behalf of the governors staff and students.
